A Rustic Wedding With a Modern Twist at Brian Arden Winery in Calistoga, California
Since Amanda Lusk (34 and director of operations at a winery) and Brian Harlan (34 and a winemaker) had careers revolving around the production of wine, it came as no surprise that they held their modern, rustic wedding at a winery—or even the one they worked at. "We had our wedding reception at our Brian Arden Winery that was in the process of being built in Calistoga, California, of Napa Valley," Amanda says. "It was not finished, but we wanted to host our friends and family at our new winery since many of them had not seen it." Other than Amanda's bridal bouquet filled with colorful blooms and Brian's boutonniere made of a single ivory dahlia, no other flowers appeared in their decor. Instead, Amanda and Brian hired a plant artisan to deck out the space in lush succulents and manzanita trees. At the outdoor reception, guests sat at one of 10 long, wooden dining tables set with bright green napkins and white menu cards. Our favorite detail? The nontraditional dessert of liquid nitrogen sorbet made with Brian's sauvignon blanc, created in front of guests for a one-of-a-kind experience. "We celebrated just the way we like to—with our closest friends and family and wine," Amanda says.
