A Shabby-Chic Barn Wedding at Starrsville Plantation in Covington, Georgia
Even though they went to neighboring high schools, Lauren Cox (21 and a student) and Terry Clendening (works at Aramark) became inseparable after meeting through mutual friends. After countless proms ad college, Terry proposed at the Sun Dial Restaurant in Atlanta. "My dad passed away when I was nine years old and my mom gave Terry the diamond from her ring," says Lauren. "They went to the jewelry store and picked out my ring together, along with my step dad, and it couldn't get any better!" After celebrating over Thanksgiving, the pair spent the next eleven months planning their fall wedding at Starrsville Plantation in Covington, Georgia. "We choose this location because we wanted a venue where we could have an outdoor wedding with a barn reception," says Lauren. "I wanted to blend our personalities throughout the day with rustic furniture and props, mason jars and beautiful flower arrangements." A navy, gold and blush color palette lent a sophisticated feel to the shabby-chic reception and soft hydrangea arrangements accented the vintage decor. In addition to a traditional wedding cake, guests enjoyed a variety of individual pies served in rustic mason jars. "The most special moment of the reception was when Terry sang Adam Sandler's 'Grow Old With You' from the Wedding Singer," says Lauren. "He has sung me that since since we first started dating and hearing it made my day!"
