A Shabby Chic Summer Wedding at Condor's Nest Ranch in Pala, California
Michelle Wookey (26 and a teacher) and Wes Mendel (27 and a sales manager) pulled off a fun shabby chic affair with a palette of warm neutral hues and pops of vibrant color for their summer wedding at Condor’s Nest Ranch in Pala, Calif. Breathtaking views of the mountains beyond and a unique property with undeniable character offered the ultimate fusion of natural beauty and elegant-yet-eclectic charm.
Michelle and Wes said their “I do’s” on the ranch’s expansive, sun-soaked lawn overlooking the mountains and valley beyond. A burlap runner and galvanized buckets filled with clouds of baby’s breath lined the aisles, adding a touch of country charm to the striking scenery. To keep guests cool and comfortable during the proceedings, the pair provided playful white sun parasols at the entrance to the ceremony.
The newlyweds and their guests headed to the main house for the reception. Long farm style tables dotted the lawn, with burlap table runners, mismatched dinnerware and mason jars bursting with bright blooms set a shabby chic tone for the decor. “we also included bicycles into our theme, since we got engaged on a bike ride and figured it would be a special touch,” says Michelle. “The venue itself had so much character, so trying to keep the florals and decor simple to really highlight the beauty of the venue was our goal.”
After dinner sweets, like a spread of decadent donuts (Wes’s favorite) showed off the couple’s playful personalities, as did their first dance to an acoustic version of one of their favorite EDM songs, “Spectrum” by Matthew Koma.
A tip for the taking from Michelle: “The advice I would share is to not stress. The day will be over so quickly, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the best party of your life.”
