A Shabby Chic Wedding at Alaska Sunset View Resort in Big Lake, Alaska

Combining chalkboard and burlap with gold chargers and overgrown florals, Amanda Latham (28 and an audit associate) and Dominique Woodard (29 and an outside sales representative) had a totally shabby-chic soiree. Wedding planner Blomma Designs and florist Bloomsbury Blooms worked with the couple to ensure all the purple, gray and ivory details came together to match the natural space at Alaska Sunset View Resort in Big Lake, Alaska. One of our favorite details is how they combined both of their cultures together for an ultra-personalized feel. Amanda is from Akiachak, Alaska, a small Yupik Eskimo village, while Dominique is from Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Boudin sausage from Louisiana, ulu (ivory) earrings for the bridesmaids, kuspuks (hooded shirts worn by Yupiks) for the bride's nephews, the Lord's Prayer in Yupik during the ceremony and a handmade porcupine quill hair accessory perfectly represented where they're from and the things they love. There are so many details we love from Amanda and Dominique's wedding. See them all, beautifully captured by Blue Iris Photography, below.
