A Simple Destination Wedding at Villa Le Mura in Perugia, Italy
Ashley McAlhaney (27 and a law student) and Ryan Colis (29 and a financial planner) planned an intimate destination wedding Perugia, Italy. The couple met while working at the same restaurant in Mercer Island, Washington. “Our first five dates were all conversation, and we shut the bar down every night we were together,” says Ashley. Ryan proposed at the top of Tiger Mountain in Issaquah, Washington, after an evening hike. First, Ryan gave Ashley a handwritten note and custom photo album chronically the first year of their relationship. “I was so surprised and overwhelmed when I realized what was happening that I just started laughing. I also said, yes," says Ashley. Seven months later, they were wed at Villa Le Mura in Perugia, Italy, in front of 14 close friends and family members. “We drew our inspiration from the Italian countryside, our love of simple beauty and our love of the appearance and the smell of lavender,” says Ashley. Super Tuscan Wedding Planners decorated their woodland ceremony with a simple white fabric-draped arch and white chairs – all of which was beautifully captured by Julian Kanz. Ryan’s daughter was directly involved in the couple’s wedding and unity candle ceremony. Ashley, Ryan and their guests then moved back to the historic venue for a cocktail hour, five-course plated meal and individual desserts. The reception was decorated with a vintage arrangement of pale green linens, multiple low colorful floral centerpieces, silver chargers and light green plates. “We also took time at dinner to go around and say a few words of what the celebration meant to us and what it meant to have our families be together,” says Ashley.
