A Simple, Natural Wedding at Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas
Minimalists Liz Shapiro (31 and a boutique director) and Matthew Garcia (36 and an architect) chose Prospect House for its modern design, picturesque Breezeway and stunning prairie views. The venue’s existing geometric altar framed the couple as they exchanged vows in front of 200 guests, and an organic palette of green and white played up the chic simplicity of the space. “We wanted to keep things as clean and simple as possible,” Liz says of filling the whitewashed reception with garlands and greenery. Their florist went the extra mile for Liz's bridal bouquet. "The night before the wedding, she went foraging for magnolias in her front yard," Liz says. For the reception, the DJ flew in from NYC to play the couple's favorite classic-rock songs. "We went full-on Texas with our barbecue buffet," Liz says of dishing up ribs, sausage, pickles, white bread and potato salad for dinner, followed by slices of classic chocolate and vanilla cake. "We served the whole shebang," she says. "I would have seriously overeaten if not for my wedding dress!"
