A Simple, Rustic Barn Wedding at Along Came Trudy in Springfield, Oregon

Who would have thought this simple, rustic-themed wedding with a neutral color palette was inspired by a choice of tie? When Katie Kimball (25 and an import specialist) realized how badly Clark Kimball (25 and a UPS driver) wanted to wear an orange tie for the wedding, there was no way around it but to make the rest of the decor match with the rustic elements of their wedding. The couple chose an outdoor venue called Along Came Trudy in Springfield, Oregon, where they had their ceremony on the lawn close to the riverfront, photographed by Ashley Cook Photography. Glass mason jars filled with orange roses, pink carnations and baby’s breath hung from folding chairs that lined the aisle. While Clark wore his orange tie with beige suspenders and slacks, Katie chose a white strapless Allure Bridals wedding dress with a lace overlay that draped elegantly to the floor. The reception took place in the rustic barn on the property, where guests were seated at long white tables with burlap runners. Katie made the centerpieces herself, which were violas planted in terra-cotta flowerpots, tied with burlap and placed on a wooden slab. Our favorite detail was the sweetheart table, draped in a lace overlay with hanging wooden signs that read “bride” and “groom,” embodying the rustic theme of the wedding. “We had music in the barn and down by the river, and many people enjoyed relaxing on the lawn as the sun set,” Katie says. “We wanted everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves as if they were at a backyard summer party.”
