A Simple, Rustic Wedding at The Devil's Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado
Kelly Roche (29 and a yoga teacher) and Daniel Sproul (29 and a musician) met because Daniel and Kelly’s father are both in the music industry and started working together when Daniel was about 16 years old. One night, they went to Daniel’s family’s cabin that is tucked into the Colorado mountains. But, when they got there, the heat was out, so Daniel built a fire and Kelly made cider in a copper teapot. “We cozied up next to the fire with our hot spiked cider and red wine, and thawed out as we talked about life,” Kelly says. “As we warmed up, so did our topics of conversation. Within a few moments Daniel expressed his excitement to share the rest of our lives together. First he handed the box to me, and I couldn't figure out how to open it, so I handed it back, held out my shaky left hand, and said, “Yes!” The couple chose The Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado, for an intimate week away as well as wedding venue. Kelly and Daniel went up a couple days before the wedding for a little R & R before their immediate families joined them for some golfing and spa-going. Then, the morning of the ceremony, the rest of their 45 guests arrived for an intimate wedding day. They chose an aspen and sage grove for their ceremony, and took a horse and buggy to get to it. Many of their family members are musicians, so the ceremony music was performed by Kelly’s cousin and Daniel’s brothers. Afterwards, they had a fun indoor reception in The Yeager House.
