A Simple, Timeless Wedding at Germania Place in Chicago, Illinois

Steven Azar (26 and in commercial real estate) and Mary Azar (27 and in commodity finance) met while both attending Miami University. Steve was tearing up the dance floor when he caught Mary's eye. Mary approached Steve and thus started their romance. Years later, they planned a trip to Europe where their first stop was Paris. While on an early morning run, they stopped at Champ de Mars, the park at the base of the Eiffel Tower. There, Steve got down on one knee and proposed to Mary with a custom-designed ring. They decided to get married at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, IL and to have their reception at Germania Place. "Germania Place is a hidden gem in Chicago," Mary says. With its arched windows, original chandeliers, hardwood floors and classic color palette, Steve and Mary immediately fell in love. Mary wanted to look of her wedding to be timeless and beautiful. "I wanted to always be able to look back at my wedding day and fall right back in love," she says. The color palette, inspired by a vineyard trip, was rose and ivory with gold and orchid accents. The reception decor made for a simple, classic look with a pop of color. With a lot of out of town guests, Steve and Mary arranged for trolleys to pick their guests at their hotel and bring them to the ceremony and reception while taking a few detours to give the guests tours of Chicago. "Our only hope was that our guests had as much fun as we did and left feeling joyous and full of love!"
