A Simple, Traditional Wedding at The Inn at Ole Miss in University, Mississippi

Aleshia Cox (27 and a nuclear medicine technologist) and Landon Magee (29 and in finance) met while playing basketball in college and became engaged during a fall weekend trip to North Carolina. After a day of hiking and visiting waterfalls, Landon got down on one knee and popped the question. Over the next 13 months, the couple planned a simple black, navy and white winter wedding at the university where they both started college (and almost met) -- the University of Mississippi. The campus’s Paris-Yates Chapel was accented with a lush arrangement of candles, white hydrangeas and roses along the altar for their traditional and fun ceremony. “Landon slipped walking toward my dad as he was giving me away. Everyone gasped as Landon literally fell into my dad's arms,” says Aleshia. “After that, Landon and I and the entire church laughed for several minutes.” After the couple exchanged personal vows, their 175 guests went to The Inn at Ole Miss for a cocktail hour before all enjoyed a reception complete with a Southern buffet and a potato bar. Ivory-linen-covered round tables were topped with navy runners and low white hydrangea centerpieces accented with silver brunia. “I knew from the beginning that I wanted a timeless, classic look to our wedding,” says Aleshia. Before each of the couple’s guests left the celebration, they filled wine bottle table numbers with notes of advice, which Aleshia and Landon will open on their corresponding anniversaries. For future couples, the bride shares: “Remember that your wedding day is about you marrying the love of your life. Don't get too caught up planning the details.”
