A Simple, Vintage Wedding at The Liberty House in Jersey City, New Jersey
Lauren Haskell (32 and an artist's assistant) and Richard Haskell (31 and an architect) loved the spacious environment at the Liberty House in Jersey City, New Jersey, for their vintage-inspired wedding. "I loved that it was on the water and had such amazing views of the New York City skyline," Lauren says. "I loved all the windows: It felt airy and bright and not too stuffy." Sarah Tew Photography captured their special day from the outdoor ceremony overlooking New York City to the indoor, dance-filled reception. Lauren and Richard admit that their wedding did not have a prominent theme but rather one with many vintage touches. "The stationery had some vintage flourishes to it, so we ran with that," Lauren says. They even used their own creativity to design much of the decor used throughout the day. Richard designed the guests' escort cards himself, replicating vintage carnival tickets. The wedding naturally took on a navy, purple and green color palette after Lauren chose the navy bridesmaid dresses and the flower bouquets. Their florist, Antheia Floral Design, created the flower arrangements using alliums, roses, chrysanthemums and hydrangeas, along with various greens. "The florist did a great job interpreting what I wanted, considering I do not know much about flowers," Lauren says. "I told her the colors I liked and the style and what showed up that day was perfect." Without following a direct theme, Lauren and Richard were able to create a wedding day uniquely designed for them. "I think the whole day reflected us as a couple," Lauren says. "It was relaxed and fun but still formal and traditional in some ways."
