A Simple, Vintage Wedding at The White Room in St. Augustine, Florida

Alex and Bobby's wedding accents historic St. Augustine with the just the right blend of vintage and simplicity. The day started with an intimate first look and walk around the area’s cobblestone streets before the couple joined their guests for a rooftop ceremony overlooking the Matanzas River and a black-and-white indoor reception at The White Room. “Between the venue’s vintage furniture, exposed brick and beautiful rod iron balcony railing, there wasn't much work left to do,” says Alex. “We found a picture of a wedding online that was the inspiration for our decor: old books for centerpieces; antique typewriters; lots of candles; rustic lanterns; and old family photos. A library-esque type feel.” With this in mind, Jade Violet Wedding and Event Floral Boutique designed each mismatched centerpiece alongside stacks of vintage books, pink roses and white hydrangeas in gold vases and tea light candles in clear glass votives for an understated yet classic look. One other must-see detail was the cake! Resting on a black vintage suitcase draped with pearls, Small Town Cake Shop baked a three-tier ivory confection decorated with hand-written antique-style pages on each tier. Brooke Images captured these details and more in the photos below (including a fun mismatched black wedding party). For future couples, Alex shares a tip: “Anything can help, but it is your day. Enjoy it. Roll with the punches. Remember nothing is perfect, but that's what makes it all fun and interesting.”

Inspired by a photo they found online, Alex and Bobby decorated their reception with a vintage typewriter, suitcases, stacked books and low mismatched floral centerpieces.
Alex complemented the couple's vintage decor with a bouquet of blush roses, white hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus, silver brunia and dusty miller.

“I think the whole day was indicative of Bobby and I as a couple. The most special part was definitely the 30 minutes we spent together before the wedding, roaming the streets of St. Augustine with the photographers and taking pictures in the nooks and crannies of the city's alleyways,” says Alex. “It was a quiet, intimate time that we will remember for the rest of our lives.”
Keeping their simplistic vintage theme in mind, Alex paired her white illusion neckline Elizabeth Dye wedding dress with a fun pair of ivory and silver peep-toe t-strap BHLDN wedding shoes.
“For my wedding dress, I wanted something classic, vintage and comfortable,” says Alex. After trying on a number of possibilities, Alex found her Elizabeth Dye white illusion-neckline wedding dress at Lovely Bride DC. She paired the look with a birdcage veil, champagne belt and BHLDN shoes.
“We both wanted a classic look for our wedding,” says Alex. Bobby and his groomsmen donned classic black tuxedos for the wedding, which complemented each bridesmaid’s different style black floor-length dress.

After seeing Cloud 9 perform at a local bar more than a few times, Alex and Bobby knew the band had to play at their wedding. “They were fantastic and played an array of music that got everyone up and dancing,” says Alex.
