A Simple Wedding at Breakers West Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida
Sara Taylor (24) and Shawn Malanaphy (27) met soon after he was in a motorcycle accident and became engaged about five years later. Shawn came into their home with a bouquet of flowers, asked Sara to close her eyes and popped the question with a solitaire round-cut diamond ring. “It was the ring I had always dreamed of,” says Sara. The couple spent their next 14 months planning a simple wedding accented in blue and yellow. Thier West Palm Beach, Florida venue was easily chosen for personal reasons. “I have always loved Breakers West Country Club,” says Sara. “I used to go to summer camps at the Country Club and my dad played golf there quite often.” Their outdoor ceremony overlooked the golf course as personal photos of the couple lined an aisle of white folding chairs. After Sara and Shawn exchanged vows, 85 guests went inside the club for a cocktail hour complete with Jamaican jerk chicken skewers. Each guest found his or her seat listed on a simple white escort card alongside more white-framed personal photos. Chandelier lighting was hung overhead as round tables were met with white linens, yellow napkins and lush low or tall yellow floral centerpieces. After a plated dinner, Sara, Shawn and their guests spent the night on the dance floor. The couple’s friends even did spotlight dances to “Gangnam Style” by Psy and the “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. “Kenny Mondo kept the party going until the last minute,” says Sara.
