A Simple, Colorful Wedding at Rincon Events Beach Club in Carpinteria, California

Becky Laird (31 and a registered nurse) and Josef Konrad (35 and a firefighter) met while they were coaching a water polo and swim team for a local high school over the summer. Initially they weren’t sure if their relationship would last, since Josef was moving to Chicago and Becky was going to college in California. However, they defied the odds, and ten years later they were taking a weekend trip to Chicago, the city where they fell in love. Becky was under the impression that the trip was spontaneous, but Josef had another plan in mind. As they were strolling through Millennium Park where Becky’s favorite view of “The Bean” was, a picnic table with champagne and photos sprinkled with rose petals was set up. At first Becky commented on how exciting it was that a couple was about to get engaged, and as they neared closer to the pictures, Becky realized it was her face in the frames! Becky and Josef had their wedding ceremony right on the beach in Carpinteria, California with a backdrop of the oceanic views. Becky chose a mermaid-style ivory wedding dress designed by Mori Lee that blended in nicely with the surrounding sand. Bridesmaids wore their choice of dress style in a pastel color of peach, coral or pink, which made up the color palette for the occasion. The men wore casual tan suits with a touch of color to spice it up, which complemented the wedding party look as a whole. The reception was held down the street at Rincon Events Beach Club, where tables were decorated with pastel flower arrangements that included roses, dusty miller and succulents in small vases that rested on slabs of wood. Since Josef was a firefighter, the couple cut the cake by using an ax rather than the traditional serving set, and took their seats decorated with his jackets on the back of the chairs.
