A Soft Tented Wedding at Palmetto Collegiate Institute in Lexington, South Carolina
Megan Catoe (23 and a nurse) and Tyler McElroy (23 and a structural engineer) met a party while attending the University of South Carolina. They later found out that Tyler grew up across the street from Megan's grandparents and began dating for two years before Tyler proposed. Megan always knew that she wanted a tented reception and found Palmetto Collegiate Institute in her hometown of Lexington, South Carolina. "They had a southern looking white house with a wrap-around porch with a huge green lawn," says Megan. "It was exactly what I was looking for!" The couple wanted a soft, romantic, and fairytale wedding, and after scanning countless magazines, Megan decided on a light pink, gray and cream color palette. Lush baby's breath arrangements in cylinder vases lined the outdoor aisle and were later utilized as centerpieces for the understated reception. "I wanted a borderline-rustic feel to the wedding, so I added two big farm tables for our immediate family to sit at during the reception," says Megan. "We also had mirrors top all of our dinner tables—it made the tent feel magical!" For a soft touch, the couple had big marquee letters spell "LOVE" above their outdoor bar as well as an oversized heart, which served as the perfect backdrop for photos.
