A Sophisticated, Classic Wedding at the University of Michigan's Michigan Union in Ann Arbor, Michigan
A color palette of purple, navy and cream added a sense of sophistication toMaja Mrdalj (26 and an architect) and William Weidendorf’s (28 and works in financial services) wedding at their alma mater.
“Our venue had a lot of character with its varying colors and textures, so we embraced the same variety in our design scheme,” Maja says. “We ultimately wanted to create an environment that felt inviting, elegant and fun.”
Maja’s custom silk and satin sheath dress featured delicate hand-beading along with an embroidered vine detail to signify growth. An elegant pair of sapphire earrings added a bit of color as the bride’s “something blue.”
The five-tier cake added visual texture with its subtle buttercream stripes and vines and had chocolate with tart cherry and almond with apricot compote flavors. Also for dessert: a gelato station that included five different options served out of a vintage green cart.
