A Sophisticated, Romantic Wedding at Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson, Connecticut

Romantic architecture, beautifully appointed rooms and perfectly manicured gardens set the stage for Hannah Beryl (24 and a social worker) and Jacob Lammert’s (25 and works in tech sales) elegant, intimate affair at Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson, Connecticut. The day kicked off with an intimate outdoor ceremony, where Hannah and Jacob exchanged vows on one of the venue's balconies, with chamber music playing softly and their friends and families looking on from below. A cocktail hour and reception followed on the lawn, where the couple created a romantic backdrop to celebrate with their loved ones. Drawing on the striking setting for inspiration, the pair went with a spring in New England theme, complete with a soft blush, peach, ivory and gold palette, chandeliers suspended from the old growth trees and an abundance of full, romantic blooms like peonies and roses, that played up the Manor’s lush grounds. Working with a local artist, the couple designed a special crest for the event, which they incorporated into everything from the invitations to the place cards, menus and thank-you cards, allowing each element of the wedding to feel cohesive. “The crest depicts a hummingbird, which from a symbolic standpoint represents a lot of what we hold as important in life: being present, playful and having a light enjoyment of life,” Hannah says. “We’ve had a handful of run-ins with hummingbirds since we’ve been together and have always connected with how beautiful the moment is when something moving so fast appears to be completely still for a moment in time.” Cocktail hour and dinner were unforgettable al fresco affairs, with Lord Thompson Manor’s James Beard Foundation-celebrated chefs treating guests to a delicious menu of everything from braised duck with figs to shrimp fra diavolo and bacon-wrapped scallops. Having arranged for a first look, the newlyweds were able to indulge in the decadent eats, sip champagne and visit with their guests. The following morning, Hannah and Jacob invited their guests to come together one more time for brunch before heading home. A tip rom Hannah: “Just enjoy every moment and be present.”
