A Southern Garden Wedding in Bristol, VA

A soft palette of peach, blush pink, ivory and gray lent itself well to this couple’s romantic Southern garden party.

A soft palette of peach, blush pink, ivory and gray lent itself well to this couple’s romantic Southern garden party.

The couple made their getaway in a golf cart, driving away through a tunnel of sparklers.
Galvanized pails filled with hydrangeas, roses, stock and belles of ireland added soft color to the outdoor celebration.
The groom's cake was a play on the couple's beloved dog, complete with a fondant bone accent!
Custom napkins were available during the cocktail hour, where metal troughs of beer gave guests an opportunity to grab a cold drink.
The couple chose simple wedding invitations online, and then used a local calligrapher to address the envelopes for a personal touch.
Two fabric love birds and pink and white bunting topped the simple three-tier cake. Inside, the cake was almond flavored and iced in buttercream.
The couple set out a cute metal mailbox where guests could place cards and packages during the reception.
“The small trees at the end of the aisle were my favorite part of the ceremony décor,” Carter says. “I wanted a focal point that wouldn’t obstruct the view of the Appalachian Mountains. The trees were the perfect solution! We plan to plant them in our yard when we buy our first home.”
Rustic metal lanterns were paired with textured arrangements of pink and white hydrangeas and roses on the guest tables.
I fell in love with the soft, Swiss-dot fabric and the sweetheart neckline on the Ivy and Aster dress immediately, says Carter. After I choose the dress, we found out the design was called Sweet Pea, a nickname Patrick has for me, and I was even more in love!
The bridesmaids chose a dress in the same pink color and fabric from J. Crew's Wedding Collection. I loved the look of all the different dresses together on the big day, says Carter. The groomsmen kept it casual in khaki suits and matching pink ties.
Carter carried a fragrant bouquet of white peonies down the aisle.
The bridesmaids had pink peonies, peach and cream garden roses, and green hydrangeas in their bouquets. Carter's bouquet was filled with her favorite flower: white peonies.
I wanted the girls to have something that would flatter their body type and make them feel the most comfortable, having so many styles to choose from worked out so well, says Carter of the knee-length, pink dresses.
The six groomsmen and three ushers rented khaki suits, and Carter and Patrick purchased matching bow ties from Collared Greens as their groomsmen gifts.
