A Summer Garden Wedding at Campovida in Hopland, California

For Claire Woods (29 and a lawyer), it all began with a bridesmaid dress. "I knew I wanted a soft color palette, but once I found those Watters bridesmaid dresses, the design scheme for the rest of our wedding came together perfectly." When it came time to say "I do," Claire and her fiance, Patrick Duggan (33 and a lawyer), traveled from Buffalo, New York, to celebrate in Claire's home state of sunny California. They visited nearly 20 venues there before stumbling across Campovida's lush vineyards in Hopland, California. "That place was straight out of my dreams," Claire says. "It was like a magical secret garden, filled with grapes, wisteria, wild fruit, cork trees and endless nooks and crannies to get lost in. Each little alcove in the garden was more romantic than the last. I firmly believe that you could host a decor-less wedding in Campovida's mystical gardens and still have one of the most enchanting weddings."

Nevertheless, Claire worked alongside Madeline Hurst from Fern Foot Events to pull off a sophisticated garden affair filled with ultra-personal details. Guests looked on as Claire and Patrick exchanged vows under a vine-covered trellis, and afterward, partygoers moved further into Campovida's gardens to sip cocktails under an enormous oak tree. "When the lavender syrup that I had ordered for our signature drink didn't arrive in time, our planner saved the day and made the syrup from scratch," Claire says of the minor snafu. DIY details ranged from homemade honey jar favors to an over-the-top photo backdrop made from hundreds of fake flowers. "Our wedding was the most gorgeous day we could have imagined," Claire says. "I married my dream guy, in the most amazing dress, in a beautiful garden surrounded by our closest friends and family." —Rachel Sylvester
