A Summer Navy Wedding at Belle Isle Casino in Detroit, Michigan
Colleen Baidoon (28 and a registered nurse) and Michael Kiehl (33 and a sales executive) had their relaxed wedding ceremony at Ann Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. Surrounded by a koi pond, a beautiful English garden with fountains, there was plenty of room for their guests to sit in the sun and enjoy the weather. "We picked this location because it was calming and the gardens are impeccably maintained," Colleen says. "We knew it would be a place we could return to in the future, where we could just sit and be together." Colleen walked down the aisle in a stunning satin trumpet-style gown with navy blue Badgley Mischka peep-toe pumps adorned with a jeweled piece on the tip of the toe. She accessorized her wedding day outfit with chandelier earrings and a statement. Colleen brought many personal touches to the reception space at Belle Isle Casino. She designed and made each wedding invitation, as well as signage for the reception tables. With navy, white and hints of lime green, the reception was a vintage-inspired evening. Mike Staff Productions provided entertainment for the night and brought vintage microphone amplification for the entire day. During dinner, he played a great lineup of Motown, crooners and '80s smooth jazz, and spun vinyl records later in the evening. A piece of advice from the bride and groom: "It's not about the money you spend or any of the small details. As long as you've got something to wear and people there who love you, it really will work out."
