“I have loved sunflowers since I was a child, since they are cheerful booms that make a big impact,” Misty Revell (32 and a teen coordinator) says of her marriage to Jake Finch (31 and an agricultural consultant). “The grounds at Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California, felt very intimate, free-spirited and relaxed, and we wanted our guests to feel comfortable.” Misty's love for sunflowers showed throughout the space that created a cozy vibe for this garden-themed wedding, making guests feel right at home. Misty and Jake incorporated their love for gardening into the day’s stationery through a sunflower-seed packet design—from the custom-made invitations to the escort cards with different flower names that matched with the table markers—captured by Elizabeth Burgi Photography. Additional decorations weren't needed at the lawn ceremony surrounded by tall trees and trimmed bushes, with the white iron wedding arch as the focal point. It was accented with sunflowers, dahlias and roses, thanks to Floral Designs by Roni. Stefanie Terrazas Bakery created white and chocolate cupcakes topped with sugar sunflowers, which went with the white wedding decorated with a fresh sunflower and baby's breath. We loved the symbolism behind the favors of seed packets given to each guest, decorated personally by Misty and her sister. "We wanted the favors to complement our theme and be meaningful for our guests," Misty says. "We thought the seed packets would be perfect, so everyone could plant the seeds, enjoy the blooms and be reminded of the day."

rnThe maid of honor wore a strapless coral floor-length dress, and the other two bridesmaids wore short dresses with coral and white floral patterns. "My maid of honor was my sister, and I wanted her to wear something different from my bridesmaids," Misty says.
Misty's love for sunflowers showed through the yellow and white wedding invitations with a large sunflower design in the middle.
The bridesmaids held pink rose bouquets mixed with baby's breath that matched their coral dresses. The bridal bouquet also had pink roses and baby's breath, but had bright yellow sunflowers added to the assortment!
"One type was a double-chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting, and the other was white cake with raspberry filling topped with vanilla buttercream frosting," Misty says. "Some of the cupcakes were decorated with sunflowers that were carefully hand-piped."rn

The strapless wedding gown had a tulle overlay with a dotted pattern that added depth to the dress. "I fell in love with my dress the second I tried it on. I remember thinking, 'This is it’," Misty says.

Instead of a traditional guest book, Misty and Jake had a brown-painted canvas with a tree design that guests signed.

Stefanie Terrazas Bakery created a small single-tiered white wedding cake for Misty and Jake to cut at the reception, decorated with a single sunflower and baby's breath.rn
"I decided to incorporate our love for gardening into the wedding with cheerful seed packet place cards," Misty says. Each card had a specific flower design, which matched up with a marker on dining tables.
The ceremony took place outside at Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California, where white chairs were organized into rows that faced the white iron wedding arch. The arch had accents of bright yellow sunflowers and coral dahlias on top, which gave the white decor a pop of color!rn
