A Super-Romantic Wedding at St. Thomas Preservation Hall in Wilmington, North Carolina

Talk about romantic! Using plenty of texture and a soft, early-spring palette, Diana Wu (33 and a senior analytical chemist at Hospira) and Robert Jenkins (25 and a instrumentation system specialist at Hospira) had an elegant fete that was entirely inspired by Diana’s stunning Oscar de la Renta dress. The fashionable bride knew she wanted her look to be a little unexpected, but still classically beautiful, and the pale blue gown with flowing organza ruffles and a white lace overlay totally filled the bill. “When I wore it after the final fitting, I felt like me, how I wanted to feel in a wedding gown,” Diana says. “Sadly, Oscar de la Renta passed away a few months before our wedding. It was truly an honor to wear his gown.” Everything from the gorgeous stationery to the wedding cake took on the same attributes for a flawlessly consistent look. A month after Diana and Robert got engaged, they saw a soiree at St. Thomas Preservation Hall in Wilmington, North Carolina, planned by dynamic duo wedding planners Jeff and Hannah from Design Perfection. At that moment, Diana and Robert knew two things: who was going to plan their wedding and where they were going to have it. One of our favorite details was how Diana and Robert incorporated some of her heritage into the traditions, such as the roof tile wrapped in red cloth, which they broke during the ceremony. “Red means good luck, happiness and good fortune in Chinese culture,” she says.
