A Timeless Oceanfront Wedding at Southern Charm Beach House in Holden Beach, North Carolina

Danielle Kellner (25 and a personal trainer/health blogger) first met Ian Linder (26 and a certified public accountant) when she went to visit her friend Greg in college. Greg and Ian were roommates and after numerous visits, a mutual crush developed that neither could deny. The pair dated for more than four years before Ian proposed on Danielle's birthday by slipping an engagement ring in her favorite cupcake. With only a six-month engagement, the couple quickly began planning their nautical, DIY oceanfront destination wedding at Holden Beach in North Carolina. "We knew we wanted to get married on a beach and loved the idea of renting a large beach house so that many of our friends and family could stay in with us," says Danielle. "We also thought it would be exciting to get married in a place that neither of us had ever been to before!" The couple exchanged vows during an intimate beachfront ceremony, officiated by their friend Greg who became ordained for the occasion. A handmade driftwood arbor decorated the casual ceremony along with hanging bottles full of red and blue flower arrangements. "If it weren’t for Greg, we wouldn’t have met, so we thought it would be quite fitting for him be our officiant," says Danielle. "He was elated and made our ceremony so memorable with funny, yet heart tugging stories of us throughout our relationship." Various DIY arrangements of anemones, dahlias and cockscomb enhanced their preppy navy and red color palette while recycled driftwood accents enhanced the waterfront feel. "We wanted our wedding to be slightly nautical, rustic and fun," says Danielle. "Our reception was held around the pool at the beach house we rented, and you could see the ocean from there, so we wanted to incorporate some sort of nautical theme without it looking too fancy." The groom's mother even packed all of her baking supplies to make their naked velvet cream cake on the morning of the destination wedding!
