A Traditional Church Wedding in Louisville, Kentucky
Rachel Hultz (26 and an administrative assistant) met Nathan Brock (26 and a professional in the furniture business) met at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where Nathan is a student and Rachel works as an assistant to the president of Southern Baptist. They began dating seriously in 2013 after getting to know each other over the course of a couple of years. Nathan popped the question on Rachel's birthday. He took Rachel to one of their favorite lookout spots in Indiana, where they had an amazing view of the Louisville Skylight and proposed. They chose to have their ceremony at Broadus Chapel on the campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, for obvious sentimental reasons. "We are both Christians and wanted a reverent wedding that reflected the covenant between Christ and the church," Rachel says. The couple chose a simple and traditional wedding style, from Rachel's lace A-line dress by Essense of Australia, to the soft color palette of blush, ivory and navy, everything about their wedding was classic and understated. They chose a white tiered cake with fresh rose and baby's-breath sprigs and fondant pearl details, in keeping with their hushed color palette, and used a smattering of their family wedding photos in antique, ornate frames and chalkboard decor to add some rustic DIY touches to their reception. "We tried to make most of the planning decisions in regards to hospitality and making our guests feel like they were a part of our wedding," Rachel says. "We wanted everyone to enjoy it."
