A Traditional Southern Wedding at Bethesda Academy in Savannah, Georgia
Megan Burgess, 28, a graphic designer, and David Stein, 27, a law enforcement officer met on a blind date set up by one of their mutual friends not long after David had moved to Greenville, NC. They hit it off after an evening spent bonding over Mexican food and travelling and the rest is history. Things started to get serious after the two took the plunge and moved to Georgia together when David was offered a job in Atlanta — they both knew it was the real deal. On an afternoon hiking trip, upon reaching the top of the mountain, David presented Megan with a yellow cushion cut diamond ring and blurted out, "Will you marry me?" To which she enthusiastically replied "Yes." A traditional wedding filled with southern charm and a taste of their new home was a must for the pair. Cotton and monograms were key motifs, making an appearance in everything from the boutonnieres to the stationery and even the caramel apple wedding cake. A color palette of ivory, pink and navy had a preppy, feminine feel that gave the decor an air of playfulness without losing its sophisticated edge. Megan added her personal touch to the day, using her graphic design skills to custom design all of the day's stationery and hand-lettering all of the signs. Locally made honey and cookies served as the wedding favors and allowed guests to sample some of the area's offerings, while a wooden Georgia-shaped plaque showed a little bit of new found state pride.
