A Traditional Spring Wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York

When Justina Chang (a business analyst) and Khai Hoang (a development manger) planned their elegant spring wedding, finding a venue that they truly connected with was a must. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden proved to be just that, the urban oasis offering a natural and romantic backdrop for the couple to celebrate with their families and friends, and also a location that they could easily revisit. “We wanted to get married somewhere that we connected with rather than a location that just served a purpose,” Justina says. “We wanted a place that we could revisit, reminisce and grow old with. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden felt right from the start.” Drawing inspiration from the beauty of the gardens, the couple went in a garden-themed direction, choosing a color scheme of spring-inspired pastels. The wedding was perfectly timed with the blossoming of garden's iconic cherry trees, making an outdoor ceremony a must. The couple exchanged vows under a canopy of the blush-colored blooms before heading to the garden's historic Palm House for a night of dinner and dancing under the twinkling city lights. To emphasize the garden theme, Justina and Khai enlisted the help of Cress Floral Decorators, who created lush, fragrant arrangements of lavender, ivory and green roses, hydrangeas and stock flowers. Justina also made all the escort cards by hand, meticulously folding colorful paper into perfectly formed flowers. “They took forever to finish, but I loved the way they turned out,” Justina says. The highlight of the evening was when Justina’s father brought out his guitar and sang "Butterfly Kisses" to the newlyweds. “I had known he was practicing to perform something, but I wasn't prepared for how emotional it would be," Justina says. "There wasn't a dry eye in the entire venue.”
