A Traditional Wedding at Waterside Restaurant in North Bergen, New Jersey

Between the gorgeous wedding dress, purple uplighting and classic wedding cake, Alex Edwards (30 and in marketing) and Jamel Powell’s (31 and a civil engineer) wedding was just the right mix of traditional and fun. The couple started their celebration with a formal indoor ceremony at Waterside Restaurant in North Bergen, New Jersey. Rows of gold chiavari chairs faced a view of New York City, as Alex walked down the aisle in a romantic white wedding dress by Pronovias. Rosette detailing along its voluminous organza skirt floated over each pink and white flower petal along the aisle. After the couple shared their first kiss and jumped over the broom, they finished the night with a colorful reception. Each round table was met with three floating pink tulip centerpieces designed by Go Fresh as Alex and Jamel took their seats at a tufted, ivory sweetheart table. All enjoyed dinner and a simple three-tier wedding cake by Palermo’s bakery before Solid Gold Entertainment’s DJ brought them onto the dance floor. Alex and her bridesmaids started things with a choreographed routine to “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, as friends and family members joined in with a few moved of their own. “It was a blast,” Alex says. One detail we love: Each of the couple’s 180 guests left with a personalized book as their wedding favor. “Both Jamel and I love to cook; it truly reflects who we are,” Alex says. “During our one-year engagement, we made numerous recipes, so we compiled all these into a cookbook with photography by Jamel. It was a great takeaway.”
