After graduating from Kansas State University and moving to Colorado together, Chelcie Britt (26 and an artist) and Troy Britt (25 and an artist) wanted a last hurrah in the community they felt so connected to. Inspired by the gorgeous outdoor space at KSU Gardens—where they had their ceremony—Chelcie and Troy used plenty of native wildflowers throughout the decor for an overgrown feel we can’t help but love. The sunflowers, worthy of the Kansas namesake, added a vibrant pop of yellow to the pink, purple and green palette. This couple of eccentric artists weren't afraid to embrace the color scheme either, with Troy’s bold mandala tie and Chelcie’s gorgeous flower crown. With the help of wedding planner Abby Wempe Weddings and Events, Chelcie and Troy brought the outside in to their reception too, at Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, Kansas. “The planning process was super-stressful at times but when it all comes together and you are surrounded by your closest friends and family you realize it was all worth it,” Chelcie says. “Just remember the day is about celebrating your love for each other, and neither rain nor humidity nor a muddy wedding dress can ruin your day.” There are so many details we love about this vibrant garden party wedding—see them all, beautifully captured by Lindsay JC Lack, below. -- Carmen Huff

Bold, Vibrant Mandala-Patterned Groom’s Tie
Wanting to fit in with the colorful, bold wedding vibe, Chelcie completed her look with totally chic rhinestone sandals. The casual shoes were perfect for both the outdoor garden ceremony and dancing at the reception.
Chelcie carried yellow sunflowers, yellow ranunculus, green hanging amaranthus, green succulents, purple veronica and plenty of wildflowers in her lush bouquet. She loved how all the day's flowers were native to Kansas and suited the KSU Gardens ceremony site in Manhattan, Kansas.
High Updo Groom's Wedding Hairstyle
In order to reduce paper waste of wedding programs, Chelcie and Troy upcycled an old door into their itinerary for the wedding. The door was painted blue for a bold pop of color and each section was done to look like little chalkboards.
Chelcie and Troy wanted a location that reflected their connection to the community and was also visually stunning. Since they both graduated from Kansas State University (and were moving to Colorado), the KSU Gardens in Manhattan, Kansas, was the perfect spot for their vibrant nuptials.
Yellow, Pink, Purple Wildflower Wedding Aisle Decor
The bridesmaids wore navy chiffon knee-length dresses from David’s Bridal. They each completed their look with floral statement necklaces to match the garden wedding theme. Chelcie and Troy also wanted to incorporate their favorite furry friends into the wedding, and the best dog walked down the aisle wearing a blue and white polka-dot bow tie.
The groomsmen wore khaki linen vests and pants paired with a blue and navy gingham-checkered shirts. They completed their look with a navy tie and lush boutonnieres. Chelcie and Troy were sure to incorporate their favorite furry friends into the day as well. The dog of honor walked down the aisle wearing a flower crown that matched Chelcie’s look.
Sunflower, Succulent, Amaranthus, Wood Wedding Arch
To express their love for plants and growing things, Chelcie and Troy sent guests home with baby succulents in little metal tin pails. Each pot had Chelcie and Troy’s name, plus their wedding date, printed on the front. The plants were perfect for decorating each place setting as well.

For dessert, Chelcie and Troy enjoyed a two-tier white buttercream wedding cake. The outside was decorated with yellow sunflowers, yellow daisies, purple scabiosa and wildflowers that perfectly matched the palette. Since the cake was on the small side, the newlyweds also served cupcakes, including their favorite: cookies and cream.
Chelcie wore a trumpet-style lace and taffeta wedding dress for her garden wedding. She completed her look with pearls from her family and a bold yellow and purple flower crown that went with the purple, yellow and green palette.
