A Vibrant Multicultural Wedding at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland
Gretchen Frerich (27 and a teacher) met Babatunde Aleoghena (28 and a project manager) in an online chat room when they were just in middle school. They kept in touch, developing a wonderful friendship. A long 10 years after they met, they realized their friendship was much more than that and began dating, all the while still long distance. Eventually Gretchen moved to Washington, DC to be closer to Babatunde and not long after, he proposed near a creek in their favorite park. The couple often attended church together and decided this was the perfect location for their ceremony. Afterwords, friends and family headed to a beautiful historic mansion for the ceremony, surrounded by enchanting gardens and stone architecture. Gretchen and Babatunde created a wedding theme that was a blend of her American traditions and his Nigerian culture. The decor was bright and summery in vibrant shades of teal and purple. After a full meal of American and Nigerian cuisines, guests could make their way over to the breathtaking dessert buffet for cupcakes, puff pastries, macaroons and more. After dinner, guests were entertained by a group called AfrikPraise that danced to a Nigerian song in traditional dress and style. It was a unique experience for most guests and an exciting way to incorporate Babatunde's culture.
