A Vibrant Fusion Wedding at Castello di Meleto in Gaiole in Chianti, Italy
Over four days, Tina Wadhwa (30 and a journalist) and Christopher Dods (32 and in financial services) held a bright celebration merging Indian and English cultures at Castello di Meleto in Gaiole in Chianti, Italy. "I knew we would have family and friends traveling from all over the world to attend our wedding, so I wanted a celebration that would last several days and one where we could celebrate both our Indian and English heritages," Tina says. The first ceremony was in honor of Tina's Indian heritage. Full of bright and vibrant colors, the traditional ceremony featured women in lenghas, and many rituals including the introduction of each side of the family through a garland-placing ceremony, the day was authentic and full of traditions. The rustic Italian castle was enlivened through colorful drapes, florals and guest attire. At the reception, green tablecloths and peach and fuchsia napkins along with giant gold lanterns and fuchsia and peach rose petals decorated the tables. The following day was a classic and formal English wedding. The color scheme was soft pastels and featured light and airy floral arrangements of hydrangeas, peonies and roses. After the hilltop ceremony, the castle garden was transformed into a rustic open-air reception, complete with bistro lights, vintage candelabras on tables and vases full of peonies and roses as centerpieces. "We wanted a romantic, soft and elegant theme, in contrast with the bright and bold colors of the previous day," Tina says. —Allie Volpe
