A Vibrant Rustic Wedding at Irish Barn at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan, Wisconsin
After first meeting on Match.com, Allison Schnelle (33 and a personal trainer) and Michael Delzer (43 and a business owner) got engaged before heading out for a family birthday dinner. "As I got ready for the evening, Mike poured me a glass of wine with the ring attached to the bottom of the glass," says Allie. "He got down on one knee, saying 'Allie, I really can't describe how you've changed my life since we met. You've made me feel the most wonderful feelings of happiness, love, contentment and security—I can't imagine living the rest of my life without you!" Nine months later, the couple exchanged vows during a rustic lakeside wedding at The Irish Barn at The Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The venue's picturesque views inspired their rustic-yet-elegant wedding style. "We worked a color palette that was natural and earthy because of the terrace and the overall beauty of the landscape around the property," says Allie. "We wanted a more relaxed look and feel with nothing too formal," says Allie. The bride wanted her flowers to look as if they had just been swept up from a meadow and went with a colorful arrangement of wildflowers to add a pop of color throughout the decor. The same arrangements of orange ranunculus, wild flowers, yellow craspedia, rose marry, natural seeded greens and berries were placed in mason jars with rocks in the bottom and raffia tied around the top. The barn's east wall is open to Lake Michigan, so guests were treated to stunning views of the Whistling Strait’s golf course and lakefront during the ceremony and reception. There is something unique about the place—when you arrive it feels like you are in a different part of the world and all worries and concerns just go away!" says Allie.
