A Vintage Christmas Wedding at Table Rock Mountain Lodge in Pickens, South Carolina
Since South Carolina native Dallas Pace (33, a wedding photographer) and Dr. Glenn Moy (39, an Australian research scientist) have a highly-unique love story, their wedding had to be just as special.“Two years ago I decided to visit a friend in Australia for three months over the Christmas holiday,” Dallas says. “We went to a Christmas Carol at her church in Brisbane and Glenn introduced himself to me after. He was in charge of putting the performance together. Because he was a already a friend of my friend’s, we hung out as part of a large group for the rest of my holiday. When I left, we started Skyping and messaging until he and my friend decided to come to America for a month to holiday. On that trip, we started dating and kept a long distance relationship for a year before he proposed.”Since the couple met during winter, they planned a festive winter wedding (inspired by Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, at Christmas time) in the gorgeous Carolina Mountains at the rustic Table Rock Mountain Lodge. Besides pops of their signature blue and gray color accents, Dallas incorporated her love of vintage objects into multiple details, including jeweled brooches and a vintage spoon in her bouquet, handmade vintage-style snow globes, dried fruit wreaths and garlands and handmade ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree. For entertainment, guests enjoyed an accordion player during the cocktail hour, and Australian contra dancing before dinner, which included strawberry spinach salad, roast beef, ham, shrimp and ravioli, a mashed potato bar and a macaroni and cheese station. To warm everyone up, a s’mores, hot cider and hot chocolate bar was set up, plus a cake station with doughnuts and a selection of strawberry, coconut and carrot cake. Dallas and Glenn also combined their southern and Australian cultures by having a candy bar of their favorite Australian and American sweets displayed in Dallas’s great-grandmother’s vintage medicine cabinet. And as for their getaway transportation? A vintage red Western Flyer bicycle for two!
