Meredith Sillau (25 and a meeting and event planner) and Steve Nolan (27 and an outside sales professional) held their wedding at the Scottish Rite Consistory in Des Moines, Iowa. "The national historic landmark offered a beautiful vintage feel and offered what I called a 'blank canvas'—we could do what we wanted with the space," Meredith says. The couple decorated their blank canvas with over 200 pieces of milk glass, gold frames, vanity mirrors, candlesticks and votive candles found at thrift stores and flea markets for a vintage glam theme. Meredith designed the invitations, programs and signs with gold foiling and elegant calligraphy, keeping with the theme. A standout detail? The Chinese takeout dinner with panfried pork dumplings, fresh vegetable spring rolls, crab Rangoon, sesame chicken with steamed rice and chocolate-dipped fortune cookies.
