A Vintage-Inspired, Rustic Wedding at The Art Factory in Paterson, New Jersey

Jillian Bray and Gene Levin wed at the Art Factory in Paterson, New Jersey, since they immediately fell in love with the offbeat, industrial-chic space. The art gallery, which previously functioned as a factory, provided a blank canvas for creating a custom experience. "Walking through the building, both of us were drawn to the exposed brick, old pipes and rustic backyard area," Jillian says. "The combination of decay and greenery inspired our 'reclaimed by nature' theme for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception spaces. We wanted to emphasize that this was a fun celebration where people could really enjoy themselves, so we cut down on a lot of the pomp and circumstance found in a traditional wedding." The color palette was green, rusty orange and light cream to emulate natural earthy tones. "A lot of our DIY décor ended up being gold, so that color unofficially worked its way into our palette," Jillian says. The indoor ceremony took place in an industrial loft accented with string lights and a birch branch chuppah. Candles and sprigs of eucalyptus lined the original wood floors. "For our cocktail hour, because our venue also functions as an art gallery, we decided to showcase our friends' art on the walls and on tables throughout," Jillian says. "And for our guestbook, we set up an easel with a pad of paper and bucket of crayons for our guests to make their own art to share with us." The cocktail hour and reception abounded with greenery, string lights and vintage touches. The sweetheart table was set off with a rustic circular arch, white linens and showstopping gold thrones. The couple also had a memory table with photos of those who couldn't celebrate the day with them. Guests ended the night by eating a tiered semi-naked wedding cake with a personalized topper and  danced away, with a traditional hora included.
