Laura Figoski (30 and a naturopathic doctor) and Amory Schlender (28 and a data scientist) wanted the perfect combination of vintage and modern for the winter wedding. “An event that Grandma could feel comfortable at and appreciate, but also something that was special and fun for us,” Laura says of their style. Laura and Amory started the day at Hotel Boulderado in Boulder, Colorado—which the couple chose for its ornate ceilings, wood details and marble pillars—before walking (in the snow!) to Agora a few blocks away. They loved Agora’s exposed brick, geometric windows and wood floors—so much that they even based the palette on the space. Shades of red, orange and green added bold pops of color to their otherwise wintery white day. One of our favorite parts was Laura’s classic Justin Alexander mermaid-style wedding dress. She loved the cap sleeves and buttons up the back, and so did we. Wanting to add a little personalization, the couple had a samba band (led by Amory’s old saxophone teacher) for the reception music. See all the details we loved, beautifully captured by Nina de Zayas from From the Hip Photo, below.

Laura carried orange roses, white dahlias, green trick dianthus and green hypericum berries in her colorful bouquet. She loved that the flowers added a pop of color to the otherwise white winter wedding.

Since Laura and Amory are from Colorado (and their families still live there), they decided Boulder would be the perfect place for their winter wedding. They chose Hotel Boulderado for the ceremony because of its orange, red and gold ceilings, stunning dark wood detailing and marble pillars. It fit their vintage theme perfectly.
The escort cards had green detailing on the top and orange accents on the side to match the color palette. Guest names were handwritten onto each one.
The reception tables were topped with wineglasses filled with orange roses, tulips, gerbera daisies, green seeded eucalyptus, hypericum berries and leaves. Laura and Amory chose the bold orange and green color palette to accent the exposed brick and rustic feel of the reception space.
“The ceremony was at a historic hotel in Boulder, Colorado, which served as an elegant backdrop for our vows, and the reception was at a more modern event space a few blocks away which allowed us to have a bit more fun,” Laura says. “We especially enjoyed leading a snow-filled walk through the downtown from one venue to the other.”
