With the downtown Los Angeles skyline as their backdrop, Iyan (34 and a financial and payroll officer) and Kate (32 and self-employed) said "I do" in an intimate and vintage-inspired black-and-white wedding. The rooftop of Oviatt Penthouse served as both the ceremony and reception site. For the nuptials, rows of seating were arranged around a black aisle runner. The same space was transformed with round tables for the reception. Decor centered on vintage items like mirrors and tall black vases on the center of each table. The venue's large illuminated "love" sign was an attention grabber and one of the reasons the couple chose the location. "I have an old soul, and the Oviatt's atmosphere feels perfect," Iyan says. "The 'love' sign and the view of the buildings surrounding the venue sealed the deal." —Allie Volpe

The ceremony featured a black aisle runner and wooden chairs with black seating pads. A white arch sat at the end of the aisle between two wooden door frames.
A black and white sign instructed guests to sit wherever they wanted at the ceremony.
Iyan's champagne BHLDN dress featured an ornate design and a jeweled belt. "I was a little concerned because I shopped closer to the wedding, but luckily I found one," she says. Kate wore a white, fitted gown with spaghetti straps and an open back and lace detailing.
The bridesmaids complemented the day's color scheme in matching black lace cocktail dresses.
By nightfall the grassy walls of the event space at Oviatt Penthouse in Los Angeles, California, were illuminated with string lights. With the city skyline in the background, the scene was otherworldly and romantic. Round tables were draped in black tablecloths for guest seating.
Centerpieces consisted of tall, black, ornate candelabras topped with rounded arrangements of white hydrangeas.
Both Kate and Iyan are fans of "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter," so they incorporated light sabers and Stormtrooper masks in their photo booth prop selection.
"Star Wars" coloring books were offered to tie into Iyan and Kate's admiration of the film.
Another of Kate and Iyan's favorite fandoms is "Harry Potter." Inspired by famous dialogue in the novels, in addition to dialogue from "Star Wars," their cake topper read "I Love You, I Know, Always."
