A Vintage-Style Wedding at Grosse Pointe Academy in Grosse Pointe, Michigan
Polka dots were in at Teresa Marchetti (28 and a nonprofit fundraiser) and Justin Reid's (28 and an auto technician in the U.S. Army) vintage-style shabby-chic wedding. “Teresa has a major obsession with polka dots and the color red; therefore, those were the two main themes for the wedding,” the couple says. They got married at the Grosse Pointe Academy in Teresa’s hometown of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where she always wanted to have her wedding. Their Catholic ceremony was in a beautiful old chapel on the grounds, followed by a tented reception outdoors by Lake St. Chair. Teresa invoked the vintage wedding style with her wedding dress, which had tiers of lace, polka dots and a birdcage veil; the bright red lip in her makeup completed the classic bridal look. Justin’s fashion matched with a white polka-dot bow tie paired with his charcoal gray tuxedo. Music was a focal point of the reception: Teresa and Justin entered and went directly into their choreographed first dance, to “Crazy Love” by Audra Mae. Throughout the party, their DJ, Music Box Productions, played the couple’s favorites, including classic and modern hits, but the last song of the event really struck a chord. Teresa’s brother put together a special mix, which included 20 minutes of songs through the decades ending with a classic Detroit theme, Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long.” “Guests danced all night the last song played,” the couple says.
