A Vintage Wedding at The Grove in Houston, Texas
Kaleigh McCormick (23 and a teacher) and Josh Andrew (21 and a teacher) met the first two weeks of college and dated through their senior year. On a frigid winter night, Josh took Kaleigh to the shore of a lake near their college where he proposed. (Kaleigh’s mom offered her engagement ring for the event: a single round diamond wrapped by six prongs in a thin gold band.) The couple chose to be married and celebrate their reception at The Grove, an elegant, modern restaurant in the bride’s hometown of Houston. The ceremony took place on the outside deck under a tent surrounded by the restaurant’s lush trees, shrubs and flowers. The reception in the restaurant’s Treehouse Deck offered sliding glass doors, which allowed guests to mingle both indoors and outdoors. The theme of the wedding was romantic and vintage. “I am in love with lace and the color Tiffany blue,” says the bride, “both of which reflect my vintage style.” Matching the theme, Kaleigh wore a Watters chantilly lace gown with a Queen Anne neckline. At the ceremony, Kaleigh and Josh participated in communion together and sang hymns with their guests. A highlight of Kaleigh and Josh’s reception was the seated dinner following their ceremony. “The Grove provided one of the best dinners I have ever had,” says Kaleigh. After, guests moved to the adjacent room for dancing and a three tier wedding cake and pies from Flying Saucer Pie Company to top off the evening.
