A Whimsical Garden Wedding at Darlington House in La Jolla, California

Splashes of color from citrus trees blended with a neutral palette of white, gold and blush to create a natural, vintage-garden look at this outdoor wedding. The brick patio, lush rose garden and Mediterranean-style architecture at Darlington House in La Jolla, California, had enough charm for Ashley Garmen (26 and a teacher) and Danny Jimenez (28 and a social worker) to fall in love with the venue. At the ceremony, guests were surrounded by the garden landscape as the couple stood in front of the wedding arch, which was decorated with greenery, colorful flowers and draped with lace, captured by Jessica Miriam Photography. The wedding party picked their own outfits that followed the color palette, so bridesmaids wore gold glamorous dresses while the groomsmen had a mix of neutral-toned vests, complementing one another nicely. The cocktail hour and reception that followed on the venue’s patio had string lights over long white family-style tables, decorated with wildflowers and draped in a runner made of leaves arranged by Forever Blooms. A unique detail that stuck out to us was the seating chart displayed on wood panels, which had guests names written on one side and the table numbers written on the other, linked by bright blue yarn to show which table they belonged to. “We had so much fun planning our wedding,” Ashley says. “We made sure to not stress about the little details, because it really does work itself out in the end.”
