Courtney Steele and Basil Steele, Jr. got married in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Hotel Andaluz, which “brought the Hogwarts castle right to Albuquerque with its cobblestone floor, arches in the lobby and the romantic, dimly lit reception room,” says Courtney. The wedding was infused with magical elements from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, from the hanging candles and cauldrons to the rolling fog that ushered the bride down the aisle and a reception designed like the Great Hall with four long House tables and potions galore. “Everywhere the guests looked there were details that brought the books and movies to life,” says Courtney. The signature cocktail was green with dry ice for a smoky touch— “It totally looked like a potion!” says the bride. Following dinner, guests enjoyed a wedding cake shaped like Hogwarts textbooks customized to Courtney and Basil. For wedding favors, the bride and her friends handmade wands for each guest. “It was an arduous task, but it was all worth it to see all of the adults dueling at the wedding!” says Courtney.

Hogwarts Houses-Inspired Groomsmen Attire
The wedding party consisted of four bridesmaids and four groomsmen, and each wore the colors of one of the four Hogwarts houses.
Courtney’s bold red bouquet included red calla lilies, roses and pops of yellow craspedia.

A local designer, Teresa Romero Atelier, made Courtney’s wedding dress. “My inspiration was an Oscar de la Renta dress that Emma Watson wore to the final Harry Potter movie premier,” says the bride.
Whimsical bottles filled with Hogwarts “potions” provided colorful decor on the Hogwarts-themed dining tables.
The ceremony program was reminiscent of a Felix Felicis potion recipe for “liquid luck.”
Courtney and Basil were married at Hotel Andaluz in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “Basil chose it because a fantastic Hogwarts vibe to it and because the staff were so warm and welcoming,” says Courtney.
