A Whimsical Modern Wedding at the Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio

High school sweethearts Amber Waters (30 and in event sales) and Daniel (Danny) Hutchison (30 and a chef) dated for about thirteen years, several of those being long distance, before tying the knot. Danny planned a surprise proposal while the two were on a ziplining trip at Hocking Hills; as Amber came across one of the lines, Danny waited on the platform down on one knee, ring in hand. They had their wedding in the planetarium at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), a place the couple loved to go as kids and still enjoys as adults. “I have always loved bright, strong colors and unique shapes, so my color palette was tangerine orange and peacock blue,” says the Amber. She carried a bouquet of full-length calla lilies and peacock feathers and wore a blue birdcage veil with a tangerine floral hair clip to accent her color theme. At the ceremony, the couple aired a short film, compiled by their friend, that told the story of their relationship. Guests then proceeded into the Progress exhibit for cocktail hour, and onto the English Plaza for the reception, which offered a panoramic view of the downtown Columbus skyline. The most striking detail was the couple’s wedding cake: Amber and Danny, wielding an axe and a golf club, were atop the cake with their two dogs, protecting each other from unruly zombies climbing the tiers.
