A Whimsical, Nature-Inspired Wedding at Casa Feliz in Winter Park, Florida
Nicole Paul (28 and an architectural designer) and Zachary (Zach) Popovich (27 and an e-commerce director) highlighted the beauty of their wooded venue with neutral hues, natural elements and overflowing greenery. “We just wanted to be married among the trees,” Nicole says of their décor inspiration. “I guess you could say the trees have seen it all—they’re the ultimate witness. They’ve seen love bloom, they’ve seen love tested and they’ve seen it endure, and we wanted to be a part of that story.” To bring this vision to life, they relied heavily on the venue’s large oak and cypress arbors to create a romantic, bohemian feel. “Zach and I always pictured ourselves getting married outside, but having our reception indoors,” Nicole says. They chose their venue because it was quaint and warm with a brick exterior, wood interior accents and wild, tropical landscaping. “It felt like us,” she says.
She balanced tradition with slightly disorganized structure to create her own unique look. “My hair is naturally very curly, so I just let it be. The humidity would have ruined anything structured anyway,” Nicole says. Zach’s father brews homemade beer as a hobby. His family created a batch with its own label for the wedding. Inspired by nature, vines and olive leaves, Nicole created the day’s stationery herself. The greenery appeared throughout the rest of the wedding—from the centerpieces to the cake. A palm washing ceremony symbolized creating a clean slate for the beginning of their journey as husband and wife.
