A Whimsical, Rustic Fall Wedding at The Nittany Lion Inn in State College, Pennsylvania
Deep purple, lavender and metallic touches created a light, ethereal and moodily romantic ambience for Abigail (Abby) Marks (35 and a director of strategic marketing partnerships at NBC News) and Daniel (Dan) Greenfield’s (32 and a research and development finance manager at PepsiCo) day.
“The mountains of Central Pennsylvania are amazing in the fall, and we wanted our friends to experience the beauty of the season,” Abby says. Her bouquet combined mauve and peach roses, succulents, silvery dusty miller and trachelium.
The bride’s airy gown, which featured metallic-accented ivory tulle over a champagne overlay, added a touch of whimsy.
Slices of agate were calligraphed with each guest’s name as a parting favor.
“With the colors changing, and the weather cooling down, we tapped into the sentiments of the season,” Abby says of their décor. Gold and silver bowls were filled with peach and plum flowers and gilded branches, and set atop shimmery lavender table runners made by the bride’s mother. The four-tier cake—lemon with raspberry filling—was served with a sweet side: raspberry and dark-chocolate chip ice cream from Penn State Berkey Creamery.
Bridesmaids carried bunches of silver and gold baby’s breath and wore tulle dresses in various shades of purple.
