A Whimsical Rustic Wedding at The Brazilian Room in Contra Costa County, California
For their rustic wedding, Kaycee Young and Martin Rydder aimed for a "dramatic forest feel with a bit of a boho vibe." Their venue's location among towering trees made this vision easy to achieve. The ceremony took place on an outdoor patio with a dramatic natural backdrop, and it was accented with string lights, vintage furniture and pampas grass. Guests lounged on vintage-inspired furniture during cocktail hour, then made their way indoors to a reception room with exposed beam ceilings and large French windows. "We had beautiful furniture rentals, a velvet couch and Turkish rugs with metallic accents," the couple says. "There was also a big stone fireplace in the reception hall that we lit, making our wedding very cozy on the chilly November day." The dining tables displayed simple eucalyptus garlands with pomegranates and loose protea stems. Circular pictures of animals replaced the traditional table numbers. Another personal touch was Martin's red velvet jacket, which he wore during the reception (he donned a dark dusty-blue suit for the ceremony). The jacket paired perfectly with Kaycee's long-sleeved dress with lace appliqué, a tiered skirt, beading and a geometric diamond-shaped open back.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: "Martin's family is Danish and traveled all the way from Denmark, so of course we had to have a Danish wedding cake (kransekake)," the bride says.
