A Whimsical, Shabby Chic Wedding at The White Room in St. Augustine, Florida

Emily Wildasin (20 and a student) and Kory Ryan (23 and a student) met on an online dating site. After a few months of texting back and forth, they decided to finally meet in person. They hit it off and starting dating soon after, but just four months later, Kory was sent to Afghanistan for nine months. A long distance proved to be a challenge, but when Kory finally came home, he popped the question on Christmas Day with Emily’s whole family present. The couple planned a romantic, whimsical affair at The White Room in St. Augustine, FL. The venue offered a variety of spaces for the couple to host the ceremony and reception and a beautiful waterfront location overlooking the bay. Emily and Kory held the ceremony on the rooftop terrace, exchanging vows against a backdrop of sparkling blue water and swaying palm trees. The aisles were lined with ivory pillar candles, fresh bunches of hydrangeas and eucalyptus and shimmery rose gold fabric to create a romantic effect. An arch draped in lush greenery, ivory and pink blooms and an elegant crystal chandelier framed the couple as they said their “I do’s.” For the reception, the newlyweds and their guests moved indoors to the White Room Loft. The room’s hardwood floors, exposed brick and white columns tied in seamlessly with the whimsical, shabby chic feel of the couple’s decor. Emily and Kory chose a color palette of pastels, including peach, mint green, blue and pops of gold, to bring the room to life. The tables were elaborately decorated with succulents, peach garden roses, Gerbera daisies, stock and hydrangeas, with twigs, small birds, ivory birdcages and potted plants speaking to the wedding’s theme. Guests danced the night away under a canopy of twinkling Edison bulbs and at the evening’s end, Emily and Kory were whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage, their friends and family sending them off in a shower of bubbles.
