A Whimsical Spring Wedding at Bonnet House Museum and Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Ashleigh Webb (25 and youth staff for Royal Caribbean cruises) and Alexander Webb (28 and a youth programs assistant manager) fell in love on the sea, traveling the world while working together on a cruise ship. Their love of adventure inspired them to transport their guests for their wedding to a whimsical garden, set in the lush Bonnet House Museum and Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They exchanged vows under the sun in front of a dry white fountain, surrounded by natural beauty and a pond full of lily pads. Their reception was held in a large open tent with soft globe lights and hanging centerpieces, which comprised lanterns of different metals, brass and glass wrapped in verdant garlands. Guests found their seats using the brass compass favors, which had their name and table number attached. “Alex and I traveled the world together on cruise ships for two years, so we wanted to incorporate our inner adventurers in our wedding," Ashleigh says. "We had a travel-themed guest book, where our guests signed a picture postcard taken on our travels together and left them in my grandfather's vintage suitcase.” The two also wanted to honor their roots, so they used Ashleigh’s Cuban heritage and Alex’s English traditions as inspiration. “Mojitos were survived alongside Scotch egg hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail party,” Ashleigh says. For dinner the couple sat according to English tradition, at a 44-person head table called the head royal table, including the wedding party and both families. As dinner ended friends and family brought Latin instruments to the dance floor to kick off the party, capping a perfect blend of their backgrounds. Says Ashleigh, “Alex carried me into our decorated getaway car, I stood up in the car and threw my bouquet, and we drove away from the best night of our lives.” —Jen Leahy
