As avid vintage clothing collectors, Kate McGrath (25 and a PhD student) and Chris Seeger (30 and a teacher) stayed true to their personal style when it came to planning their whimsical wedding at a private residence in Charleston, South Carolina. Kate wore a 1940s organza dress that she bought six days before the wedding, and tried on for the first time just before walking down the aisle. Chris on the other hand, isn’t a fan of the high waists of vintage trousers but instead incorporated a 1940s hand-painted pin from Kate's collection into his boutonniere. "I'm an obsessive vintage collector, and the 1940s is my absolute favorite era in fashion history!" says Kate. A close family friend created all of the colorful florals and kindly changed everything last minute from dull green and blush to vibrant shades of pink, purple and yellow. Throughout the whimsical celebration, guests had the option to use floral fans, wear classic neon sunglasses and take home antique mason jars filled with beautiful flowers. Other vintage details included the bride's 1920s flapper heels from Paris, a 1930s celluloid floral choker and the mixed antique reception vases. "The venue was gorgeous with an open floor plan and views of the marsh," says Kate. "The ceremony was held on the banks of the river under the live oak trees followed by a reception under a tent on the patio."
