A Whimsical, Vintage Wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York

Alexandra Rosenburg (26 and a production assistant) and William Floyd (27 and a PhD student) always knew they wanted to have their wedding in New York

Alexandra Rosenburg (26 and a production assistant) and William Floyd (27 and a PhD student) always knew they wanted to have their wedding in New York and found the perfect outdoor space at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York, where they mixed vintage and whimsical touches to create their perfect garden wedding. They incorporated their Jewish and Methodist faiths and kept their families in mind for their ceremony and reception, all captured by Sarah Tew Photography. Both Alexandra and Will are fans of Wes Anderson films, and wanted their wedding to reflect his films' styles, with touches reflective of 19th-century England. "From the start we knew we wanted our wedding to have a vintage feeling with touches inspired by some of our favorite books and movies," Alexandra says. "We knew we wanted something romantic and vaguely Victorian with a modern twist." She credits the wedding day's florist, Rebecca Shepherd Floral Designs, for creating the unique and beautiful flower arrangements seen throughout the day. Following the color palette of soft blue, purple and green, arrangements included roses, peonies, irises and hydrangeas. Every ounce of Alexandra and Will's wedding was a reflection of their own styles and personalities. Using Alexandra's grandfather's tallit, or prayer shawl, and Will's grandfather's wedding band really made their ceremony special. While their wedding day was very much about them and their love, it was also important to them that their guests truly enjoy their time. "By throwing a great party we made sure everyone was happy and that made our day even better," Alexandra says. "Getting to celebrate surrounded by family and friends really made our wedding the best."

Alexandra carried a beautiful round bouquet, created by the wedding day florist, Rebecca Shepherd Floral Designs, of peonies, roses, irises and hydrangeas matching the vintage-inspired color palette of soft blue, purple and green.
Alexandra's bridesmaids wore knee-length, green chiffon dresses from Bella Bridesmaids. "Initially I was going to let my bridesmaids choose their own style of dress in the same color and fabric, but in a happy accident, all three chose the same dress," Alexandra says.

When Alexandra showed her consultant at Kleinfeld the styles of wedding dresses she liked, the consultant knew the exact dress for her and brought her a beautiful Rivini tiered lace gown. "Each layer was a different lace and the shape cascaded perfectly, showing off my waist while not hugging everything," Alexandra says. "Both my mom and I teared up when I put it on."
Gold and Silver Infinity Wedding Bands
"My favorite part about the groomsmen's style was their hats," Alexandra says, "which we gave to them as thank-you gifts." Alexandra and Will bought each groomsman a black top hat from Goorin Brothers, adding a traditional, vintage touch to their formal black tuxedos.

Alexandra and Will held their cocktail hour outside, in the main courtyard of the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where guests enjoyed chicken and waffles, miniature grilled cheeses and oyster shooters along with their signature cocktails.
Alexandra and Will chose a color palette of soft blue, purple and green with pops of pink and light coral for their whimsical, vintage wedding. Their florist, Rebecca Shepherd Floral Designs, created the beautiful arrangements of roses, peonies, irises and hydrangeas keeping with these colors.
Alexandra and Will's whimsical vintage inspire wedding reception took place in the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and was decorated with white round tables, white chiavari chairs and floral centerpieces of roses, peonies and hydrangeas in alternating heights.

Alexandra and Will's wedding florist, Rebecca Shepherd Floral designs, decorated the reception table centerpieces with various flowers, including roses, peonies and irises, and warm candlelight. "She used bell jars and antique candlesticks to add to the centerpieces," Alexandra says.
