Thought there were no castles in Texas? Think again! Tasha Wilcox (27 and a nurse) and Brett Bekavac (28 and a finance administrator) had their wedding at Castle on the Lake in Jacksonville, Texas. “We chose to get married here for the natural beauty of the castle, and because every one of the ideas Britian (the owner and wedding coordinator) had for us were just what we had pictured for our wedding day,” the bride says. The ceremony took place under an oak tree beside the lake, where Tasha and Brett said “I do” beneath a gorgeous wedding arbor made from branches and interwoven with flowers. The arbor even included a chandelier to illuminate the couple as they lit a unity candle and became husband and wife. An element of the day that was special to the couple was having their dogs walk down the aisle with the ring bearer. The dogs dressed up for the occasion, with one wearing a heart sign that said “Here comes the bride.” At the reception inside the castle, the couple had an easel full of keys where guests could post their advice for the “keys to a happy marriage.” They also had a wedding cake, with a center tier designed in the likeness of aspen wood to match the venue decor. At the end of the night, the couple didn’t let a little rain get in their way, and had a sparkler exit, complete with fireworks. See the details captured by Photography by Gema, below.

Tasha’s whimsical, cascading bouquet perfectly matched the lavender and mint color palette. The arrangement included lavender and ivory roses with purple stock, unruly sprigs of veronica, a green cymbidium orchid and succulents.
The wedding favors were ceramic bird pots with a variety of succulents tucked inside. Each included a tag with the couple’s names, wedding date and "thank-you."

Unity Candle Ceremony Under Twig Arch
Tasha wore a hip-length tulle veil with lace lining for the wedding ceremony. The lace of her veil complemented her lace wedding dress, and her embellished crystal headband added extra romantic flair to her bridal style.
The bridesmaids wore strapless, floor-length chiffon dresses in lavender and mint. The groom and groomsmen wore dark gray tuxedos with vests. Even the couple’s dogs dressed up for the occasion.
The wedding arbor stood under a large oak tree and included a chandelier to illuminate the couple as they said “I do.” “The arbor we were married under had flowers woven through it, and was just beautiful with the lake behind it,” the bride says.
The wedding cake really showed off the couple’s whimsical side. The round almond cake featured a bottom tier covered in rosettes, a center tier textured to look like aspen wood and the top tier ruffled, with a video-game-inspired topper customized for the bride and groom.

As a place where their guests could leave well-wishes and wedding advice, the couple had an easel full of keys at their reception for their friends and family to leave the “keys to a happy marriage.”
The cake toppers were handmade by a bridesmaid to look like the bride and groom (with a little whimsy).
