From the sequin bridesmaid dresses to the natural floral arrangements, Katelyn Michael (24 and in communications) and Tyler Garner’s (26 and an engineer) wedding put a fun twist on their classic gold and white color scheme. “We tried to sprinkle in our personality throughout the day,” Katelyn says. The pros at the Monarch Studio were there to capture the day, which began with an outdoor ceremony at Casa Monica Hotel, moved to a gold and white indoor reception and ended with a horse-drawn carriage exit. The Big Event, the couple’s wedding planner, and Special Arrangements by Joanne filled their day with eye-catching decor. Natural arrangements of white peonies, white garden roses, dusty millers and greenery were draped across the couple’s white wedding arch and topped each gold candlestick centerpiece. The couple’s one family-style table even matched the bridesmaid dresses as a gold glitter runner went past each gold charger. Another notable accent was Katelyn’s whimsical white wedding dress. A fan of “Say Yes to the Dress, Atlanta,” she went with a few loved ones to Bridals by Lori, where her consultant quickly pulled out the Judd Waddell gown. “It truly felt like a dream, and I knew immediately that it was my dress,” Katelyn says. With ruffles cascading down the skirt, the stunning gown added a fun touch against their white decor. Katelyn advises future couples to remember one thing on their wedding day: “No matter what unexpectedly pops up, you are marrying the love of your life and surrounded by amazing family and friends. Nothing unexpected can change the beauty of that.”

Each of Katelyn's bridesmaids wore a stunning gold sequin floor-length dress by Badgley Mischka with a high neckline and short sleeves. (The best part? It came from Rent the Runway.) They paired the modern look with a few classic touches, including an elegant updo hairstyle, simple jewelry and lush natural all-white bouquets. Special Arrangements by Joanne designed each bouquet with peonies, dusty miller, greenery and large white bows.
Special Arrangements by Joanne designed a natural and fun display for the head of Katelyn and Tyler’s ceremony aisle. Crystals and white tulle were draped along the arch, as each post was met with a large white peony. For a natural touch, white hydrangeas, greenery, white delphiniums, white freesias, white garden roses and white peonies all topped the display for a lush accent.
Florida’s unpredictable weather made a surprise visit on Katelyn and Tyler’s wedding day. “The thought of moving our outdoor ceremony to an unplanned indoor location had me very worried,” she says. Luckily, the storm turned to a drizzle just as she was about to walk down the aisle. The couple’s ring bearer helped add to her entrance with a sweet chalkboard sign and lace-wrapped book.
After the rain clouds cleared, Katelyn and Tyler added a personal touch to their ceremony with an acoustic guitar performance by one of his groomsmen. “We have such talented friends and were thrilled to share that with our wedding guests,” Katelyn says. They said “I do” under an all-white wedding arch draped in natural floral accents designed by Special Arrangements as Katelyn carried a matching bouquet.
With their neutral and gold color scheme in mind, the Big Event, the couple’s wedding planner, filled the ballroom with a mix of elegant and fun touches. A gold glitter runner was placed on the couple’s single family-style table as white fabric covered the back wall. Their remaining white linens were met with lush natural arrangements on tall gold stands, candlelight and gold chargers.

The team at Small Town Cake Shop helped Katelyn and Tyler put their own fun twist on a classic white wedding cake. Each tier of lemon, vanilla or red velvet cake was separated by either lemon, fudge or cream cheese filling under a layer of white icing. A fun, piped swirl detail decorated the confection as a matching gold script topper was placed on the smallest tier.
The couple’s 110 guests enjoyed a few memorable treats from their wedding. Aside from a black and gold custom koozie, all were treated to a University of Florida-themed candy bar in honor of the couple’s alma mater and a spicier treat. “We loved that we could share our mutual love of hot sauce and support the small town of St. Augustine by giving guests a locally made hot sauce,” Katelyn says. “We tried to sprinkle in our personality all throughout the day.”
When it came time to pick her wedding dress, Katelyn went to the renowned Bridals by Lori from “Say Yes to the Dress, Atlanta,” and was far from disappointed. Her bridal consultant instantly selected her whimsical Judd Waddell ruffled wedding dress. “It truly felt like a dream, and I knew immediately it was my dress,” Katelyn says. “My parents and girlfriends laughed at the smile I had when I came out in this gown; it was unlike anything they had seen before.”
